New sights, new sounds, new people!

Every night we go somewhere new and different - here I am at the Negresco hotel, on the night of Fête de Musique in Nice, an all-evening long celebration of music, song and dance. Lots of new people to meet and say hello to, all kinds of wonderful sights to take in, not the least of which was the view across the Baie des Anges at sunset, what a sight!
Being on vacation means you get to do lots of things that are new and exciting . . . here I am in front of the famous Negresco hotel on the Promenade des Anglais!

Fête de Musique in Nice

Last night was the Fete de la Musique in Nice - musicians filled every neighborhood from late afternoon until midnight, playing and singing. Here I am standing outside the Hotel Negresco, next to their statue of a jazz trumpeter. If it's one thing I like it's a good celebration, and last night was tops.

A Glamorous Evening

Since I was wearing my chic little pink barette, we decided we had to go to visit the Hotel Negresco on the Promenade. I'm not quite sure, but I think I may be their first rabbit. At least, that's what it seemed like when we arrived there.

I See the Sea for the First Time!

It was a beautiful evening in Nice, fresh, cool and breezy, so we headed to the beach for my first view of the sea. As you can tell, I was quite captivated, I love the sound of the waves in my big ears. And looking out over the view is wonderful, there's nothing better I like than a good view!

We Arrive in Nice!

Here I am, first day in Nice, relaxing on our balcony. There is a wonderful view of the Mediterranean Sea, and I take a few minutes to stretch out, lie on my side and have a good groom before taking a nap inside.

We Pack for Nice

Well, here I am helping the humans to pack for their trip. I have to inspect everything, they're so incompetent - I'm afraid they might leave the package with my accessories behind. I hate being under-dressed for any occasion.

The biggest problem was figuring out what to wear for the wedding in Monaco in July. So, instead of making a decision, we just took everything along with us, making our luggage rather heavy.

Well, here I am, sitting patiently at the SNCF office while the lady prints out my ticket for the train. I feel very privileged, having my own ticket and all. Later, when I took it out of its little envelope at home, I found that I was listed as a "chien"! Please note, everyone, I am not a "chien," I am a "lapin", but the people in the train office don't seem to believe me!

Have to get busy packing, we leave tonight!

We say AU REVOIR to the Eiffel Tower!

Since we are leaving for Nice on vacation in a few days, we thought it would be a good idea to say
"au revoir - but we'll be back soon" to the Eiffel Tower. So we went over to the Champs de Mars last night with a few thousand other people to watch the lights come on and have a little snack. It was a cool night with lots of clouds in the sky but no rain, the perfect night for an evening stroll.

Desiree de Rabbitt's
SURVIVAL GUIDE TO

NICE
for the
URBAN RABBIT

Hello, everyone! Are you a lady rabbit (like me)? Going to Nice this summer (also like me)?
Stuck in a quandary of what to buy, what to bring, what to wear? No worries, I have put together a little survival guide for your trip, since I am now (at least in the last 24 hours) an expert in packing for a trip to the Riviera.

Note the above illustration. In it you will find all the useful little things you'll find necessary - a trip to the beach will be as easy as a swim in the ocean!

Here we go:

1. Beach umbrella: in Nice, blue and white stripes are the best.
2. Padded beach chair: the pebbles on the beach are lumpy!
3. Sunblock for the tips of your delicate ears.
4. Magazines. Be sure to include:
a) Fashion - so you'll be up on the latest
b) Gossip - see who's wearing what to the wedding in Monaco, so you don't wear the same.
5. Pineapple juice - fresh - for an afternoon pick-me-up.
6. Big red dark glasses, so your fans won't mob you (hint: we like lots of rhinestones).
7. Straw beach bag (bonus: you can munch on this in an emergency!) containing:
a) Bottled water - keep hydrated!
b) Ballerina flats - remember those lumpy pebbles)
c) Extra towels - blue, of course
d) A yellow polka-dot bikini in case of an emergency.

Note: false eyelashes are optional, but only after 5. Come to think of it, who's on the beach after 5? But bring them anyway.

So there you have it, all the inside track on all you need for the perfect sojourn sur la plage this summer from me, Désirée!

A Bunny in Nice!

Well, as much fun as it is being a rabbit in Paris, we are packing our bags and heading south on vacation!

We'll be in Nice for three whole weeks - swimming, sunning and sailing. Not only that, but we will probably be the only rabbit at Prince Albert's wedding on July 3rd!

Stay tuned for more details, photos of us getting ready, on the train and our arrival. So, the year of the rabbit has come to the Côte d'Azur!
